An an owner of a few vintage Omegas, I am still looking for some choice vintage Longines. I am a total newbie.
Is the Longines Admiral HF a collectible/ desirable watch? I also noticed some of them say automatic on the dial and some do not. The ones that don't are hand wind ?

    Thank you

The Admiral HF (high frequency) models are not as sought after as the older Admiral models from the early 60's, and Admirals in general take a back seat to most Conquest and Flagship models.

The automatics have the 2nd generation Ultra-Chron movements that were detuned from 36k bph down to 28.8k bph in 1972, designated with caliber numbers of 664x and 665x. They are still in-house Longines movements and have a deserved spot in any Longines collector's box. The manual wind 69x2 series calibers were introduced in 1971. They're also 28.8k bph, with the 6952 and 6972 having a hacking mechanism that lets the second hand run until it hits the 12:00 position, then stops for more accurate timing.

I happen to have an Admiral HF 6952 with a blue dial. Nice wearable watches.

There were 36k bph Admiral HF models and that could very well be one. The dial looks original too. I'd like to see a picture of the movement - and I don't understand why it isn't shown since another picture shows the caseback off the case.
