a question about the markers on what appears to be an otherwise complete 166.036 seamaster

I know the index markers on this watch don't look to be normal for what I typically see on seamasters from this era, but I liked the watch, so I purchased it. So, opinions? Total redial, or did they just replace the markers? The crystal is an omega signed crystal, and the case still has a brushed finish and appears to be unpolished with all correct stamps on the back. Looks very nice, original and not atypical for a Seamaster COSMIC.

Thank you, i'm quite fond of the 60's seamasters, especially the cosmics with the 565 and 752 movements. I have a 166.023 on the way as well so i'll have both back in my collection, i'll probably be looking for a 751 constellation of some sort next from this era before I take a plunge on a speedmaster.

Dial looks totally legit to me. Fond of the script checks out compared to my former cosmic which I got from the first Owner.

You got a very nice combination with the silver sparkly dial. Cosmics came in a huge number of dial variations.
BTW I think it would look even better on a nice period BOR bracelet.

    Enjoy your watch :).

    Cheers,

    Max

Yours looks exactly like the dial of the 166.023 I just purchased, it gets delivered today.

OP, markers are original to the dial. Hint for next time, look closely at the markers. In this case factory polish none scratch no glue around and no dial damage around markers, factory alignment. In time if you look at a lot of watches you will be able to tell just by style and design if these markers are a perfect match to the dial, hands and case.

20190727_135712.jpg the 166.023 came in today, the crystal appears to have been polished, but i can still barely make out the omega sign in the dome, overall im happy with it as well, it appears this one didnt have luminous marker points or hands

Yeah, i honestly think theyre their best design out of the 60s, they work well today still, looking vintage, but not so old theyre out of place...if that makes sense

The Omega symbol is on the underside of the crystal so shouldn't polished out

Sometimes they are just difficult to see. I wouldn't read anything bad into it.
