I got an email, and you can read the full story here: http://speedmaster101.com/blog/a-new-private-purchase/ But this is what I got, from the surviving brother of a Vietnam Vet. Extract Ordered It has a later bezel, but it must have been fitted early on as it has melded with the watch that a recent replacement does not. Signs of wear: And dirt: Mainspring is broken but inside it is complete. So it is off to Magical Simon to work his wonders on it. My plan is not to change anything, as I know the full history. There is a part of me that doesn't even want to clean it. Mrs Fruit thinks I have gone mad.
Very cool story. Yea after that email he sent you impossible that you can sell that. Congrats on that great pickup.
Dibs. I have never "dibs'd" anything before, but I am on this one. If you try to sell it to me, I'm gonna talk you out of it (I can talk a LONG time). God forbid anything happens to you, tells Mrs. Fruit I called dibs, and, once in my hands, I promise I won't touch it either, out of respect for both Mike and T.
Great story. The Navy guys have great taste. Wondering if he bought the watch from the Navy exchange?
Given your existing Speedy collection, I'd say Mrs Fruit's take is In line Although I couldn't fault you for jumping on a one owner with complete history
You've done very well to get this far without arousing her suspicions! Re the lovely Speedy - please please leave it exactly as it is, grime and all. You've got plenty of others serviced and ready to wear. Imvho you'll get more pleasure from looking at this one as it is, plus these untouched examples are becoming non existent. You can't go back.
I thought the idea was to work harder so you could get Mrs Fruit a new Aga oven? If you keep buying, you will be working until the day after you die. Nice catch by the way.
