No, I don't mean is my watch good enough to date. Although....

Anyway, I usually don't dabble in Omega, but I've been looking for a watch for my girlfriend for a year. She really wants a Jaeger Lecoultre 145.8.89, but I'm having great difficulty finding one.

This is a great alternative for now - and heck, if she doesn't like it, I might keep it. It really caught my eye.

What I'd like to know is if the dial looks original. I'm not in any capacity an Omega collector and I'm not sure of the subtle signs. I couldn't stand to give her a refinished dial, even if she didn't notice.

The two indices at 12 o'clock look like they might not be lined up perfectly. It's hard to tell even with my own eyes. Perhaps a sign of a redial?

It's 33mm in diameter, which is great for both of us.

Looks like a textbook early 60's 14.701 caliber 562.

Thank you for the confirmation. My intuitions were correct this time. It really is beautiful. Maybe I won't give it to her tomorrow after all. :p j/k

Can the date wheel of a caliber 562 be safely turned by alternating the crown between 11:00 PM - 1:00 AM?

Yes, but it's more like 9:45 to 1:00 if I remember correctly.

Depends on how the watchmaker set it, you can turn the crown back 3 1/2 hours after you see the date jumps to a new date.

Great gift, OP. Not to hijack the thread, but I've been contemplating the same for my significant other. She loves the idea. The one hang up is that she's quite adamant about wearing bracelets on her watches; not straps. Any suggestions for a generic and female appropriate bracelet with an 18mm lug width?

    Hijack? Never happen here :p

I think a generic fine mesh would suit a lady, just do it!

Otherwise you're in for a hundred hours of "Ooo, this one looks nice, no, wait, what about this, do you think this matches my eyes, Ooo look at this one.................................".

Beads of rice would be perfect for a bracelet a lady would love
