A new project for sheepdoll? Metal detector find.

So I had a quick go with the metal detector in my garden this morning, along with my youngest daughter, apart from some lumps of rusty metal we were quite chuffed to find this pocket watch. What do you reckon @sheepdoll could you bring it back from the dead? 😀 Possibly beyond even your considerable talents!

A quick dip in evapo-rust and some buffing compound will reveal a masterpiece … of a child’s stash of paperclips in an Altoids tin.

An old manual car starter handle froze up from our lawn. A little rusty but would still work if the cars would still run.
If anyone needs some more than hundred year old golf clubs be my guest.

A bit more sophisticated than that.

I saw a documentary on this. Amazing stuff. There were some brilliant people in ancient times. I can't remember what it is called, but it is a mechanical computer for calculating various astronomical events.

I believe it's the Antikythera Mechanism (I follow Clickspring.)

I was going to make a smart witty comment about this however it does make you think about how silly and self centred we were in the 20 and 21st century believing that in the industrial revolution we had swept away antiquity with our mechanical prowess and intellectual regime only to find that thousands of years prior it had all been done before with out our supposed great metal working abilities afforded to us by our superior intellect of the modern age.

There ain't nuthin new maybe even Elon's dreams have all been done before.

Bugger! couldn't resist, what the movement serial on that so I can look it up on the Pocket Watch Data Base
