Hello All! I understand microbrands are not for everyone, but they can be a whole lot of fun especially when done right. Unfortunately for some of them, getting the correct exposure is pretty tough. I just wanted to give the guys at Nodus Watches a little shout out here on OF. Nodus was started by two guys (Wes and Cullen) who were high school friends and got into watches separately. Then they reconnected through this hobby and decided to start their own brand. They are offering some pretty solid pieces. They released their first watch last year(the Trieste) and just announced the release of their second watch today. I was fortunate enough to pick up one of their first pieces and I am very impressed with the attention to detail at this price point. Some of you may have seen photos I’ve posted in WRUW. I saw the title.. and was like Meh another junk micro... saw it was @Jwit and looked... Wow... I like this one. I no nonsense dive watch with a great size, and overall look. I like the applied indices with a nod to Rolex but not a copy! The Polar is the jewel of the colorways though none of the others really speak to me. The retrospect... Many things I like about it like the sandwich sunburst dial, but needs something to pop it. Not sure what... but...
Appreciate the trust! I’ve been chatting quite a bit with Wes and I think the slopes/stadium bezel and high dome crystal will check that “pop” you are talking about. They are actually going to send me one of them to try out for a week in the near future. I’ll be sure to post plenty of pics when I have hands on... and they have two More models coming out later this year too. Just to clarify for anyone who might be thinking it: I am not getting paid or getting any bumps/benefits for posting here.
I absolutely love the beveled lugs on this piece. Straight beveled lugs + no crown guard = vintage diver vibes. Edit: Also DRILLED lugs! Even better. Why more brands don't do this is beyond me.
Vintage lume the brown... use a Seiko style lollipop seconds hand and for gods sake put some orange somewhere on the blue.
I love micro brands and Independents. Refreshing break from the ususal suspects. Some are bogus but these guys seem to have an eye for design.
The only thing I'd take issue with on the new watch is the lack of drilled lugs. Overall another solid offering.
The order site for the Obsidian says this: Very tempting indeed, especially in black with black bezel to evoke 50 Fathom like styling!
I meant to say that the Obsidian is a colour scheme of the Retrospect (Obsidian Black) @Mouse_at_Large
I know those two statements completely contradict each other. But its only on loan for a week. It’s like borrowing a watch from a friend. Obviously they are doing it to generate publicity etc. myself and a handful of others who picked up their first watch are getting hands on for a bit and then passing it onto the next person. This post was made out of a genuine appreciation for the brand and their pieces. Not for freebies or discounts or money etc.
You are an influencer now. Make sure you get your compensation, the other influencers are doing sh@t for free.

The other night I went to a watch meet up. It was in San Diego and one of the guys had the white dial version of this watch. It wore really nice so I asked more details and if they made it in blue. Found a used one and it just arrived (on my Omega mesh). I
