Can't do watchmaking... but I felt like toying around with a couple of timepieces this evening. After some time with pliers, calipers, pin removal tools, and many cusswords, here's the result: Really, it's only the first time that it feels painful... much easier the ones after More pices of the finished product tomorrow if everything goes fine (and the light is good enough to make it watch desirable!) Cheers, Paul
I did indeed - but it was for a good cause, and not an original omega mesh, so this was less stressful. I consider this as practice before tackling an genuine one... but in the meantime, here's the result on that newly arrived 176.071 Memomatic. I like it a lot The mesh fits it very nicely, but it did take some fiddling indeed, to get the clasp to land at the right place and the watch to stay on the wrist how it should. Given the watch's weight, a poor adjustment makes it rotate a lot on the wrist, which is unconfortable. Once adjusted, the mesh structure itself is surprisingly confortable! Smooth, without any depilatory effect like I was worried about. And once on the wrist, it doesn't look that "bling" after all. I think the finished product looks cool - those "pilot line" cases have an amazing 70's flair to them. That all-silver Memomatic with a touch of blue is lovely me thinks! Paul
Congratulations OP! Terrific watches, aren't they? I also wear my Memomatic on mesh; it says "hello":
Almost twins separated at birth! Yes, those pilot cases memo's look killer on meshes, happy to see I'm not the only one!
