    Hi all,

I want to show you something interesting as a little teaser for the weekend ;)

Does anybody know what this is? I am sure there are some knowing members here who have already seen this:

    face.jpg

It is not perfect but a rare piece... and I accept the condition until I am able to find a better example.

So guess or go through your books :D

    Yes, a rare piece indeed.
Ref CK 2013 (shown on p 132 of AJTT), sometines called 'flying saucer' ('disco volante' in Italian). A bic ase for a small 26.5 SOB T2 Inside... Nice 'pontife' hands on yours. Is the dial redone? If yes, that's a nice work.
Here it is in the 1937 catalog, where it was proposed with three different dials :

Are those 18mm lugs? If so that's a pretty damn big watch for the era, what's the diameter?

Yes it's 18mm lugs. The case is 39mm diameter. Really a big one for this period, but it is interesting to see that there were several XL case models in the 1937-39 period, with some 26.5 or even 23.4SC inside.

    Yann,

I knew that you would be the one who could solve the riddle - you are near, but it is not exactly what it is...

    Have another try ;)

    Hi Erich,
Same but with a cal 30mm?
I love the font for the numbers. I have one dial for a 26.5 that has the same but the Omega logo is of an older type than on yours.

Yes - and the winner is: YANN

Yes, it is the model with a very early Cal. 30 T2 which followed the Cal. 26.5 model and I think it is much rarer than the 26.5 version...

AJTT tells that the 26.5 version is CK 2013 - but what Ref. is mine with the Cal. 30 T2 - do you happen to know if it was the same Ref.# ?
Can you find anything in your vintage catalogues?

    kind regards
    Erich

I'll have a look to my catalogs this afternoon. 20 years before, Omega used the same ref even if the caliber was different. I think that was not the case anymore then. What approx. year is your watch? By the way, it's the first time I see one with a 30mm.

    Take care,
    Yann

The movement serial starts with 9.108.xxx which is a very early one of the 30 T2 run shortly after 30 T1

    Hi,
And what is the case serial, it's easier to date a case and case ref (btw, 9mil serial for movement spreads over a very long period according to Omega, even if I always had doubts on their data on this specific aspect... Do you have reliable info on that?).
    Take care,
    Yann

The case serial# is 10.075.xxx which is a good match to the movement serial# I guess

    Hi,
I couldn't find this case with a 30T2 in my period catalogs, sorry I can't give a ref. Maybe with an Omega certificate?

By the way, DIBS in case you find one in better condition!;)

    Take care,

    Yann

20150513_035355.jpg I had a very rare one and ended up selling it regrettably for nicks to a well known English watchdealer live and learn......

Super watch and a shame it wasnt offered here. I seem to remember this being sold my more than 1 dealer.
How many nicks did you get for it
I can’t remember the asking prices but I seem to remember that the final asking price was surprisingly high. And one which you would have been hard pressed to match unless you used Phillips et al. And even then I wouldn’t be confident. Plus there was a Hodinkee bump I seem to remember.

Interestingly a double signed 30T2RG recently sold at auction to a dealer when I thought it would re appear here.

These are rare watches that don’t come up for sale often and I guess that makes them hard to price.

Yes I now realise how rare the watch was and the final dealer in the US was asking close to US10k. It sold pretty quickly from what I can gather. You can never stop learning...

Some years ago I had one with 26.5, I've never seen one with 30T.
