The answer is that they're actually red hands. Or rather they were red hands. The red pigment used on the first generation of Seamaster Pro chrono Divers (1993-mid2000s) was not stable, and many of them that were exposed to UV light changed colour and bleached to white.
Trev had a Ref 2599.80 that had hands that were pure white too after colour-changing. If you look closely you'll notice the slightest pinkish tinge left in the hands.
