Last week I went to checkout some watches and looking for particular complication that is missing in my collection which is an Annual Calendar. The WOS guys showed me a JLC master calendar and VC complete calendar but one piece that gets me is this Lange 1815 AC. Its retail for 53K aud but probably can still get more discount with tax refund from airport or from the shop. Any advice is welcome. Thanks

I own the JLC Master Moon Triple in RG ... Value for money IMO favors JLC. I just could not bring myself to shell out for ALS or PP even though I had the budget (at the time) to do so. That said I am fully aware that the level of finish on the subject watch is higher than the JLC. Resale will be better. My JLC was a gift from my wife so I don’t care about re-sale.

Like anything, buy if you love it. I think the 1815 series is just drool worthy. Yes duty free is the way to go. Bought the JLC in Paris. Bought my Rolex in Germany. Saved a ton. Gratuitous pic...

I owned a JLC MUT Perpetual and that turned me off to all the annual and perpetual watches. I couldn't read anything on the dial, so all of that complication was just for show. It looks very legible in photos, but in real life it was useless.

I did love my Lange 1 moon, though. ALS will take a massive hit on depreciation if you buy new. So make sure you love it or can afford to lose 30% out the door.

Although not considered High End the Zenith Captain Windsor is a beautiful watch and you can find one for 5K or less. I love mine and just sent it to Zenith for service

ALS makes some terrific watches with beautiful finishing. I'm not too keen on this iteration of their annual calendar though, I much prefer their Saxonia automatic annual calendar with the big date at 12 o'clock, but that's just my personal preference. And keep in mind that this is a manual wind movement so if it is just an occasional watch you'll have to contend with resetting it.

The JLC SS version is actually my first choice and then the lange was introduced to me even I’ve been checking it online this piece looks totally different in person specially when I tried it on. In this case I don’t wanna keep more than 5 watches and planning to sell 1 or 2 so I dont need to cash out this much. Cheers.

Initial discount even I didn’t ask for it coz Im not going to buy it right now is 10% but the guy said I can still get more If I will get it. So I believe I can get probably 15-20% off plus tax 9.6%. Great collection. I know I wont probably use it every day but If I decide to get it this is probably my end game piece. Hopefully haha. Great collection by the way.

Yeah Saxonia is actually a gorgeous piece as well but I love that arabic numerals and every time I looked at it it reminds me of our wall clock back home that always ding every hour.

Can't put my finger on why, but I loved the Lange saxonia annual calendar in platinum.

It feels immensely solid when you try it on, the movement with the micro rotor is stunning, and the dial is more of a slate grey as it reflects the platinum on the edge.

Far more greyscale than photos show, the blue of the moon phase pops so well! Worth looking at

I did tried this one as well in gold. Amazing piece and smaller that the new annual calendar. I believe this is 38.5mm and the new one is 40mm.

I'd also recommend the Saxonia Annual Calendar. It has the signature Lange Big Date and out of all the top brand annual calendars probably one of the best feature to price ratio.

(not a great shot, but one of the watches I wear the most)

A5F48D26-D6F3-4090-97AE-91DE91E20390.jpeg I agree completely here. I’m a huge fan of the 1815 line, my up/down below, but for an annual cal I’d go with the Saxonia

If it were between the Saxonia or 1815, I'd pick the Saxonia as well for legibility.

I also have a JLC Triple Calendar.

I really like the white gold JLC Perpetual, but the Patek 5205 would be my choice for an annual calendar. I love the skeletonized lugs:

The ALS is on another level compared to anything JLC or VC.
