Lots of talk, some of it rather ugly, regarding this reference. I thought I'd return to the basics and just show some pics of my five. All were sourced within the last 20 months. The last one 2 months ago. Caliber 861 movement numbers are all correct, either 2655xxxx, 2732xxxx. All have correct applied logo, wide TT dials and DON bezels. The 3 bracelets are each 1039/516 and perhaps original. One has a tear drop chrono which I believe is original. Only the NATO lacks the proper flat foot crown. The leather strap still has a nasty brown rehaut which has to go. None are for sale........Although I've heard €60,000 for the lot would be today's price Thanks OF.
Am buying on behalf of a friend. He says is 80K Euros OK. (Doh theres a topical link there somewhere)
Very interesting to see side by side. The trend of a greenish color to the aged lume is present it seems. My '68 exhibits the same greenish hue, as well as the one I sold a few months back here on OF. Good things to note! Thanks for sharing!
They are all stunning, as to be expected really, but my favorite is the one all the way on the right.
Lovely collection Takes skill to collect such beauties that fast. May I ask where you have gotten that watch holder from?
These are the two that I've owned (one of which has since moved on to another OF member's collection). Both consistent with the exception of the bezels - one had a 220 bezel on it that was most likely swapped in at some point. DON should definitely be part of the 68's without exception.
@gemini4 quick question for you since you are a hoarder, and clearly an aficionado...based on the new pics @Kwijibo has posted, what does your gut tell you a market range is?
Is it me....or When a -69 is labeled transitional , it gives me shivers....., had my transitional on yesterday
Listed by a well known and respectable dealer @rarebirds.de I'm no expert in the Speedy game and only own one, which is happen to be a transitional as well. Seems to be a pretty hot topic lately and I'd love to learn more about this reference as well! So apologies if I'm wrong, but isn't the movement suppose to be around 26-27million only? http://www.rarebirds.de/
Yikes! More and more dealers jumping on the Speedy wagon and not checking their facts? Or something more nefarious ....
