Hello guys, I wanted to share my latest acquisition with you Speedy geeks A one-owner 145.022 with à racing dial, which seems to be original to the watch (at least that's what the first owner said, and I have every reason to believe him). I'm not sure but it looks like it might not have been polished, the dial and bezel are spectacular. The typical watch that just spent 27 years in a drawer... The only downside it's that I haven't seen the movement yet and it needs badly a service (looks like the gasket has melted...) Should I expect a 145.022-69 only or would it be acceptable to see it's a 145.022-68? Anyhow, I'm really happy, and even if I'm not sure about what I'll do with it yet, it's definitely a grail for a speedy nerd! PS: it was acquired in Geneva in summer 1970
Chrono creep in the 12hr counter...you really should just resell it and look for a better example Killer find
Hate it. Really horrible. You should be embarrassed to wear it outside. Tell you what, because I'm such a nice guy, I'll take it off your hands, strictly to help you out. Congrats on a great pickup
Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate the comments! I guess that if it passes the OF test, it was not a bad catch I'll have the movement checked out ASAP, and I've noted the dibses
By the way: does anyone know if it's possible to add links to a 1039? It fits my wrist but I have a big hand and she's tight when I put on the watch The clasp is already at its largest point...
Yes, but you will need extra extensible links which you can find on the internet from time to time, but be aware that they will be costly...
Wow! An amazing find indeed of such a rare dial. Definitely share movement pics when you are able. Congrats!
Very nice - congratulations. I love my 2004 Japan version, but I see you dial as even nicer with those 'mellowed' five minute markers. I hope a service and just a little restoration go well and complete a much envied acquisition.
Thanks a lot guys!! To be honest with you, the watch is probably worth a couple of kidneys, but I've just had to sell an arm and a couple of fingers for it I'm pretty stunned that it's still running bang on time after 24h, for a half-wound watch that wasn't serviced in god knows how long !
Thanks for the reply. I immagine it would be costly and time consuming. Usually, I would wear it on a grey suede, but I just can't split the bracelet from the case after a 47-year "marriage"... I won't touch it
