Well if I have to choose between the brochure and the real watch at that price (decent Connie YG deluxe? or 3 nice SS connie Pie Pan)......you all know which one I will definitely choose :)

Ok...again a newb question...did everyone miss the picture that said this was a facsimile of the 50's brochure? Either your responses are sarcasm or I'm missing something. Please enlighten me.

The brochure is not a facsimile, the pictures of it are.

    Yes, everyone is being sarcastic

    Hi OM,

The facsimile picture was a snap of a facsimlie from AJTT used to establish the fact that the seller had an original.

But with today's current reproduction/printing technologies, who knows how many originals there are?

With those 3D printers, we could print ourselves a watch!

I'd like to print a Breguet, but I don't think those printers work with material like unobtanium.

I do not understand, since when have brochures of vintage-watches become collectible?

    Thank-you.

Seamonster, brochures, posters etc are a collectible category of their own..very sought after by multiple groups...those who collect a certain artists, a certain type of art, advertising in general, and those who are enthusiasts of the product advertised. I'm not sure if anything like this was ever produced but I'd love a vintage Omega poster in my home office.

    I appreciate the clarification.

More than likely, the seller is in a world of his own. Anyway, we wish him good luck.

    Thank-you.

I appreciate there are collectors for this but I think, the asking price will always be within reason or subject to supply and demand.

    Thank-you.

I believe you have hit the nail on the head.

To put the price of this into perspective, I recently paid about £20 for what I believe to be a 1940s Omega maintenance booklet that would have come with a new watch. I say 1940s, which is purely a guess because in concentrates on pocket watches and manual wrist watches and briefly mentions automatic wrist watches as if they were considered a passing fad. My booklet is for the UK market but I suspect that there would be local versions for all of Omega's markets. I don't (YET) have an Omega of the correct vintage to accompany this booklet, but it would enhance the value of such a watch if one were to sell them together. This is not my intention because I would never part with it. Catalogues and advertisements are invaluable for seeing how a watch should look and therefore validating the originality but the price of the one above is, IMHO crazy.

For reference, here is my booklet:

The language, throughout, is beautifully prosaic and so pre-1960 it is like an old British film.
