The serial number puts this at really late 1966 or very early 1967 - probably one of the first caliber 431 examples released: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-14k-Lo...790534604?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item1e73b92dccPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network It's in nice shape, and the opening bid is reasonable. If I didn't have an 18ct pink gold caliber 431 I'd seriously go after this.
No, there just doesn't seem to be enough questions about the brand to warrant it. I know we have a couple high-beat / 36K bph fans here so if they were interested in getting into a solid gold version that's in good shape I thought I'd throw this out. Been trolling da 'Bay for a couple specific calibers to fill slots in my Longines' box. A couple mildly interesting pieces, but nothing spectacular yet. EDIT: .... unless you can help me persuade Norm to sell me his incredible 22A as an exact but better conditioned replacement for mine.
Here's a watch that has everything right - except the crazy B.I.N. price: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LONGINES-18...es_Watches_MensWatches_GL&hash=item2a244b71cfPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network It's at least $1600 too high.
I like this one more, and the date location makes the watch. I might be a little biased though. Potential Longines collectors - note the crown. The early 29x powered Conquests from 1959 & 1960 had these scalloped crowns. They were later replaced with the serrated versions like the examples shown in the other posts in this thread. If you find a good example with the correct crown, snag it.
Not me but I did get mine for a bit less Of course mine isnt as pristine as this one but I still love it
Nope - I made the offers, Seller countered-offer but remained above my margin levels. He also wanted a non-CC payment to which I don't favor.
Same here. Thought it would be you. Definitely someone on this forum. That watch was listed number of times and sold once Dennis posted.
No affiliation with the seller here. The Conquest in that listing was Longines top of the line watch, and in the condition it's in should only appreciate. As far as the other watch in the original post, I would wager that most collectors are not as versed on Longines as they are with other brands and probably thought this was a franken because the 431 usually came in a C-case. The case this U-C is in was something you'd expect to see an Admiral dial & caliber (50x) housed in.
Adding another good U-C with it's correct box: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Mi...905275407?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item27cabf8c0fPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network The pictures aren't great but it looks very good, and that's a pretty reasonable price for a nice U-C with it's box in nearly new condition. EDIT: I had to fix this post to put the correct link in - the one I had was wrong.
I happen to have that exact reference and like it very much. Paid more for it, too. Note the nifty way the dial finish radiates out from the date window instead of the center
The only excuse I can tell my wife for buying this is it's for X'mas for 2020! I really should stay off the forum for a while.
