image.jpeg Once in a while, those of us who repair watches, run into a curiosity we feel might interest others. Such a watch is one I serviced yesterday. A Borel cocktail watch showed up on the MB recently, so I thought I would post this one. The engraving on the case back is from 1970. It has a 25-jewel ETA automatic movement in it. I didn't bother to set the calendar as there is no quick set on this model. With the sunken crown, it is a bear to set!

Those watches have always fascinated me. Did someone other than Borel ever make them in quantity? And why are they "cocktail" watches, after all?

Because you'd have to be drunk to buy one?

    hah! Perhaps!

I do note this is a man's watch, I've mostly seen these as lady's watches.

That was another reason I called it a curiosity. It is a man's watch! Until now, I too had only seen them in ladie's watches.
