Luckily I haven't got the finances for the BIN, otherwise I would have been mightily tempted to take a gamble http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Patek-phi...956341?hash=item1eaeb28e75:g:REwAAOSwq19XDLloPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
The main picture is the crappiest of them all. Such bad shots for such an expensive watch... Why do people do this ?
Hmm... The BIN option has been removed! Seems like I should have taken a shot at it and then tried to explain it to my bank advisor EDIT: The BIN was at £3K...
Like it. GBP3000 would be a very fair price to say the least..... Might consider a punt myself, but I am afraid it will go well above the 3K at the end..
Only 4 transactions, and fletcher1993213 has been an eBay member since 18 Nov, 2015.... heart wrenching funeral story...
A bit of a risk for sure. He only offers UK shipment, and you will be covered by the eBay protection program, so some comfort in that.
"We are not sure how much this is worth but are selling it to go towards funeral payments. Please no time wasters." No other watch related buys or sells, and I think it's the only item he has so... could be a trap, could be not.
I can't access the listing, but I don't see protection programs covering "punt on blurry pics turns out redial". (Thankfully my lesson came with a cheap Longines whose parts were worth the price-- but you do learn once you've tried it).
Like this "beauty" currently on sale at my not-favorite auctioneer "Auctionata"? http://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/a...0278/lot-26df889d-211c-4574-b243-a5db00e06df0 Not only do the bastards command the highest auction fees in the market. They claim to be experts, and fails to mention that this is a very poorly redone dial. And what about the angle of that crown? "Dial with minor age-related patina"? Yeah right my a..!
Bad photos as noted. Case may be over-polished, but perhaps not. Dial is also a question mark. If all is good, it is worth well north of 3000 GBP.
Seeing as how it has a few flaws, as you've mentioned, would you recondition it or just leave it as is ? I'm curious because I know it can be difficult, sometimes, to fix these watches up.
Btw the listing has been pulled out. This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available. Someone made a good offer ?
Probably... Someone with bigger balls than me, certainly! Honestly, had I had the money ready, this would be just the watch I'd gamble on. Seeing that it had a recent certificate of authenticity, I think it could have, at worst, a PP refinished dial and a polished case - but I don't know for sure how thorough these certificates are. I'm guessing that they are rather specific at PP It could still well be a cleverly put together trap, of course. Reminds me of the joke "my worst fear is that after I die, my wife will sell all my stuff for what I told her they cost".
I'm assuming the real value was much higher, given that it's an 18K. I don't know much about PP but it looked like a nice watch indeed. Too bad the pics were terrible.
