A 1943 CK589 Rough value?

I`m new to the forum, I thought I would share my new acquisition, this has been in a box for over 40 years, it was my Grandads.
Sadly it's in lockdown at the jewellers for repair as its a none runner. They took a look inside and said it doesn't look serious. So I'm waiting for the lockdown to end for the repair costs. They said a new glass would be an idea, but to leave the face alone.
Is this one that I need to insure? If it's worth a lot in money I probably will.
I think its a CK589, the case number dates it to 1943.
Thanks! Can`t wait to get it back, I want a tan colour strap by the way, the black one is going

First of all, welcome to the forum 馃憤 !

No precise idea of the value but it's a VERY nice Omega.

I hope your watchmaker will be able to fix the problem. If I were you, I would ask the watchmaker NOT to touch de dial in any way. I even believe the crystal can be polished instead of changed.

It's an exceptional watch you have here, great inheritance 馃グ

Cheers.

Gorgeous watch. I would leave the watch totally as found, unpolished crystal included. Only service the movement. Please leave it at at watchmaker you can trust with these kind of things.
As to value; I would easily state 2 to 3k. Could even go up to a lot more (6k...)

Oh and some help, it's the CK859 and not the 589 馃榾

The watch is at my nearest official Omega repairer. It's large shop with double security doors, she said its fully insured and in a vault.
Is there anywhere I can learn the watch jargon? The terminology etc.

Well I suggest taking it away from the official Omega shop and taking it an independent watchmaker 馃榾

Very nice one

It's with these, they are independent, seem very helpful and said they wouldnt touch the face. It's in for a new glass, new strap and basically get it working.

Don't let them give you new glass mate. Just service the movement.
