Congrats on the new purchase. It's a nice looking but somewhat entry level model. It's in a solid gold case but of the lowest gold purity. I doubt the value of the watch will every deviate too far from the scrap gold value.

Looks legit to me. Probably not the watch I would buy if investment was the highest priority. As noted, the gold value is not high, and that style of bracelet is not terribly popular. Unfortunately, you can't really change the length very easily, or replace it with a strap, IIRC.

And, they overexposed the pix to hide corrosion to the movement. good luck

Nice watch to wear, but not an investment.

As long as you like it that's all that really matters, but as others have noted this would not be considered as an investment piece especially if you paid retail for it.

But, if you paid slightly above spot price, you did fine. Like buying sovereigns you can wear!

They’re very rare and actually worth more than the more commonly seen 22ct versions as they’re much harder wearing!

Thanks mate! It’s 67gr of 9ct solid gold between case and bracelet and I thought for £1700 was stupid not to buy it. This models are not really easy to find and prices are normally between £2000-£3000.

@Icenoice Most people here are collectors and watch enthusiasts who don’t care for the “investment” mentality and flipper stuff that has become prevalent lately. Most watches aren’t a good investment by any normal measure.

The case was made in London by Shackman and Sons The hallmark is May 1972 - May '73 by the way so it is slightly later than perhaps you thought.

The demand for something like this is vanishingly small these days, particularly from men in the western world. I am sure sellers would ask twelvety million pounds on C24 and the like but that's not to say it is an achievable sale price. The 67g of 9K gold is worth around £1,250 today (depending on who you know). Are you sure the rest adds the extra £450? Maybe, maybe not, if you bought it as an investment I don't think you did quite as well as you hoped, but if you like it then all is well.

Totally agree mate and apologies if anyone felt offended about my comment. Probably used the wrong word especially because every time I buy a watch a get very attached to it and impossible to flip it or sell it. I will definitely wait and add another piece to the collection instead. I own few Rolex and this is my first Omega that’s way I did subscribe to this forum. I’m not particularly attracted by the more common models like the speedmaster/seamaster and when I found this vintage beauty at that price I thought it was really good to me to let it go. That’s all..
Cheers guys
