I Recently bought an Omega Flightmaster at a very cheap price during my holiday at a flea market.
After finding out that the watch was original by opening itI cannot determine what it is.
As seen in the pictures the reference in the case says 2914-2. I don't know whether this is a really early FAP or originally a railmaster with a replaced flightmaster dial, in reality I don't really know what this watch is,. Therefore I kindly consult you guys in this forum, begging for some help.

Is it possible that any of you can help me determine what this watch really is ?

I am not interested in selling the watch as I find it a very "mysterious" and special watch, and I would really like to keep it and hopefully pass it on some time.

I really apologize for any inconvenience at the last thread I posted about this watch.

    Kind regards, Anders

Depending on how cheap "very cheap" is it looks like an amazing find to me! By no means an expert but the dial looks both original and valuable...

I don't follow railmasters because I really like them but they are way beyond my price range. So I don't know if there was a flightmaster. But if that dial is all original you have found something rare and valuable.
Someone who knows their stuff will be along soon.

Awesome find with an uncommon Caseback.
To me, the caseback engraving, with only the seamonster, is quite different from most 2914-2.

Railmaster versions are either blank or are engraved with both the seamonster and RAILMASTER
FAP version 2914 Casebacks are normally engraved with FLIGHTMASTER, seamonster AND FAP although some are seen with FLIGHTMASTER and seamonster only,

I also have no idea if Railmaster/Flightmasters were sold to the FAP as early as the 2914-2. Perhaps a member with a copy of Flightmaster Only can add more information.

Firstly congrats on a killer find. There is a 2914-2 in Goldberger’s Omega book that is close to your serial and same cal 284 but with a Railmaster dial - a correct dial for that reference/case back. IMO this is either a legitimate Flightmaster with a replacement case back (expected to see 2914-4 with FAP engraving) or a Flightmaster dial that replaced the original Railmaster dial. There is a slight possibility that the Railmaster dial was refinished to say Flightmaster but I think that is highly unlikely based on the photos. An Omega extract may be helpful as it could confirm the serial as being a FAP issued one. Whatever the outcome, this wins the “Best buy for $7” prize for 2019. What was the location of that flea-market again?

The Omega Sales Katalogue for the FAP shows the Flightmaster in the 1959 version. As far as I know, the early ones and the last version from 1964 were shipped to the FAP with this Back and were engraved in Peru. Seamonster and omega sign only. But have never seen one in the flesh like the OP example. And,yes, omega Excerpt a must ! Kind regards. Achim

honestly, you should do a search on this. It has been written about dozens and dozens of times. To oversimplify: Omega is not sympathetic to vintage watches, and often replaces items that make the watch valuable with new replacement parts.
