How do you get an extract for a WatchCo?

I know the extract is attached to the movement, and clearly the movement came from a vtg 300, but a $3k premium for a piece of paper is silly.

Doesn't make much sense to me, and seems a bit shady with the wording, as only the movement is from the 1960s. Would love to get some thoughts on this:

Simple the movement was salvaged from a SM300. The extract only comments on a movement.

Not exactly shady and very carefully described. If you are not aware of "watchco" type builds you might not know exactly what your getting.

They lay it out in detail in the Item Description section. Basically the movement is out of a production 165.024 and they've replaced everything else! Case, hands, dial, bezel:confused:

i believe extracts simply state when the movement was made and initially shipped to?
so, technically, a watchco could have an extract too...
at 6k, he is asking a LOT for a watchco...

I hope whoever buys realizes that they are not buying a vtg 300.

they might have salvaged it from a parts seamaster...especially for date sm300s, the vintage 565s come from period geneves/seamasters.
seller banking on someone who will go 'wowza' on the extract and overpay...
OTOH, folks who pay attention, do a little research and, hopefully, stumble upon OF should do ok. :)

Have the been selling at high 3's-4K somewhere? I've seen people asking that much but the actual sales I've seen have been in the 2-3K range.

After asking the question, I stopped being lazy and searched the forum, a nice one just sold pretty quickly here, asking $3k with an original omega mesh bracelet

As I said before, all sm300 trends pointing up, vintage or watchco. :)

What if you have an SM300 with original SM300 movement and tritium dial, new hands and new case. It is all completely original and you can get an Omega extract. Is it considered new, vintage, or franken? Personally I would probably replace the old vintage tritium dial with a new old stock luminova dial to match the hands and bezel. Any thoughts?

Hmmm..This enters grey areas so fast..
I guess if case is replaced (plus dial/hands), that tips the scales towards franken...
If it's all NOS, (minus the period proper vintage 552/565 mov't),it's a watchco.
If you have a vintage with "just" the hand (s) and/or maybe the dial replaced, but probably no more than that, it's still a vintage with couple service replacement parts.
Again, no hard and fast rules on this and many folks prefer to define it a bit this way or that.
Bottom line, if you like it, you knew what you were getting into, were not overcharged or ripped off, then enjoy it! :)

The sm300 in the OP ebay link is a watchco. But for the period proper vintage movement, everything else is NOS parts.

So it does not matter whether the movement is from an original SM300 (verified by Omega Extract) or some other model Omega? They are all the same? I am sure Watchco/Abouttime thinks it does matter to the tune of about $1800-$3000 additional dollars in price.

For a watchco, it really doesn't matter which donor seamaster/geneve watch the movement came from.
Their including the extract with this watch (co) is a tad disingenuous.
And 6k is way too much. You're looking at a 3k watchco, per latest market trends.

    Not in the least IMO.

With all new parts, the watch is not vintage by any stretch of the imagination.

Would a documented 427 from an original Shelby Cobra make a modern kit car a vintage Cobra? Hell no, same with a WatchCo in my book.

If I had an original movement and dial, in a new case, I would paint the hands to match and look for a vtg tritum bezel. It would be a bastard, but would look vintage instead of brand new. Of course if I ever sold, I would have to be clear on what it was.

Step 1: Amass huge quantities of omega NOS service parts and vgc vintage period proper movements
Step 2: Put together whole bunch of 'seamaster 300' watches and sell them online, keeping Omega/Swatch at bay as best as you can
    Step 3: Big profits!
