A follow-up for all who replied to my query: the person who sold the 1675 to my brother-in-law bought it back as soon as he heard it was going to be up for sale. And for a sum right down the middle of the spread established by your suggestions. Well north of 6, just south of 7.

Thanks much, one and all! You had it nailed.

Sounds like it may have returned to the original owner. Cheap but righteous.

At that price, I’m not surprised he snatched it back up. What a steal.

The bracelet looks like a Joske's Mexican market bracelet - they were a Mexican supplier in the 60's and 70's for Rolex watches sold in that country. The clasp looks real at least, I'd search for Joske's bracelets to see about the bracelet and end link characteristics, I'm not sure if they are stamped with a code or not. But I'd be surprised if someone took the trouble to put a random Joske's on an aftermarket bracelet.

That's essentially what the current owner told me a few weeks ago. Thanks for the confirmation!

Something like that would be close to USD 10k. GMTs are not cheap these days.

The way I look at it, conducting an in-person transaction with zero headaches for cash was worth the price, even if a 10% - 15% was left on the table. But as they say, your mileage may vary ;-) . . .

$6500 (approx.) is 85% of $10,000? Sounds like buyer and seller are happy, which means a successful transaction.

The spread offered here was more like 6 - 8, so I threw out the low and high estimates and went for the median. The seller's happy to have immediate cash, and the buyer's happy to have his old flame back. All's good in da 'hood!
