i am unsure of what to do with the 1171 bracelet of mine. The 633 end links are loose and move up and down which cause a rattle that makes the watch sound like something is loose. What can I do for this?

Picture shows where i am talking about. The end links rattle on the case between the lugs.

Local Rolex-trained watchmaker told me you can smoosh 'em tighter between your fingers and then test fit.

Something I did, and if you ruin your end links it's not my fault, was to mount the end link and the spring bar but not the bracelet, and use smooth-jawed pliers to squeeze together at the corners and then finish by bending the tabs up.

Now! All this being said, if you buy a brand-new set of 633 end links from Otto Frei... the fit on a Speedmaster is nearly perfect. Yeah, costs money, but you'll be a lot closer to nirvana.

And there'll be no pliers (smooth or not) squeezing anything that might not want squeezing...

Well yeah but I had extras so it was worth experimenting. I got them pretty close that way.

Not as close as you'd have got if you'd have "smooshed them with your fingers"!!!
    It's the future.
    Apparently?????

I guess you're trying to be snarky/funny? No watch nor bracelet was harmed in the experience. I guess you missed where I consulted the Rolex-trained watchmaker, also a CW21?

In any event, new 633 will fit almost exactly out of the package, and that's what I would recommend for a Speedmaster. The 633 I fitted were for my Watcho Seamaster, which is like the Speedmaster, but not quite.

I taped the jaws of the pliers tripled up. I barely squeezed it and it worked like a charm.
    No more rattle.

Thank you guys, I knew if anyone had a solution you all would know.

My end links are 47 years old so they are a bit worn from use.

I also have a 1171/633 bracelet on my 76 speedy but the links are loose. Is there a similar technique to tighten them up. It is a bit big at the moment so with a bit of tightening should be perfect fit.
