Hey there folks, was inspired to post this on the heels of Hijak's recent sale of his spark dial Seamaster cal 751. I have one similar, but was really taken by the radial grain finish around the bezel. Here's Hijak's recent post: And here's mine: .. . I would say mine is clearly axially polished. I would assume Hijak's is more uncommon, and thus more interesting. Any opinions on the case variants?
First watch has been refinished while second watch looks like wear with some refinishing. The radial finish as originally done is subtle.
One of the best looking Omegas of the day - classic detailing, modern features, precision and up-to-date look. Always on the lookout for one!
Thanks very much folks! These are great examples, and I'm glad to be at least somewhere in the pack. I guess I don't have the pleasure of seeing more minty examples in my area.
My copy has the original finish (never polished, has a couple of minor dings) and yes it has the subtle radial finish:
Gold cap versions are more difficult to find with the intact original finish - the gold content of these is less so than the same generation gold cap constellations (and we know how hard it is to find those watches with sharp unmolested cases).
So, since starting this thread, I've started to lament my own sparkle dial. Just putting this out there, but does anyone have a watchmaker out there that can confidently re-lap the radial grain back into these bezels? It doesn't have to be 110% (perhaps only distinguishable with a loupe), something consistent would get this over the hump I think.
