Hello all, Back on the market. Description amended. My wife's LeCoultre has been sitting in her watch box. Since we are travelling to Europe in October, she decided to let it go to fund our trip. My research hasn't yielded much about this watch other than it's the very first automatic movement by Jaeger-LeCoultre. The 353xxx serial number suggests late 40s, early 50s. It can't say for sure as there is no database available. I've checked comparable case designs and serial numbers to guesstimate the approximate production period. Here's the details: Movement: LeCoultre (SS Bumper Automatic) - (LeCoultre, VXN) 17 jewel calibre 476 (12A) bumper automatic movement. I'm sorry I have no pics of the movement but I guarantee the above information as exact as I remember seeing the pics from the original seller. Borrowed from the web... I had it serviced in 2015 by Shane Ede in Toronto. Dial: I'll call it an early redial. Very nicely done in any case. Lume glows faintly and steadily regardless of light exposure. I can't confirm the lume material used. Crown: Seems to be the original unsigned crown based on my research Case: 34 mm without the crown. Excellent and very sharp stainless steel case and snap back, serial 353xxx Full refund if misrepresented in any way. Plenty of worldwide references here (Faz), TimeZone (fazmaster), 100% positives on the bay (archfaz) and more. Feel free to inquire. Final reduction USD $359.00 OBRO shipped to Canada or the CONUS. International shipping at cost. Can be shipped from within the USA as I travel there on a weekly basis.
Perhaps I should explain why I’m asking. The odds of radium still having life are basically nill. I’m not sure anyone has live tritium for watches anymore. Neither of those will work for more then 30 seconds if exposed to light and in radiums case I don’t think it will at all. I’ve got a sneaky feeling it’s luminova. I’m interested in the piece and need to factor the possibility and costs of reluming it with vintage colored luminova which might vary with what is on it.
Fair enough. I’ll take into account all of the above and amend my description Thanks for the heads up! Cheers Faz
Will repost with a more accurate description. I need to do more research Thanks to all who commented. Cheers
