I am looking at two vintage omega watches one a Seamaster De Ville C-1968 w/stainless steel case with solid 14K Gold lugs and a solid 14K Gold bezel with a 563 movement and the other a Seamaster C-1957 gold capped gold lugs with a honeycomb dial with a 471 Movement. Both are in great shape from a well trusted local dealer. My question is what is the better movement and perhaps a little more unique? The Seamaster is price just 25$ more.

A 563 series moment would probably be considered "better" than a 471 on general terms, since it's a later construction. 471's are more rare, for the same reason, its older.

Basically we are talking about the same movement... if I remember correctly, they are very similar and the cal 471 is the base for the 500s caliber family... I think that the 563 is chronometer certified. In my omega automatic from 1955 i have the 471 and i can tell you that it keeping the time perfectly.

563 will be far easier to get serviced. Many parts for movements that came before the 55X and 56X series are discontinued, and that includes the 470 series.

both movement are good. More easily to find the spare parts for 55* serie. If it was me, choosing the watch, I've choose DeVille model, because I've a small wrist. If you've a big wrist than the best choise for you'll be the watch based on 471 movement, because usyally this watches little bit bigger.
