As I said in the eBay thread, there are more than 6 of these.

Think we were both trying to fix this thread up at once there lol

GatorCPA has photos of the magazine ads for this model, and there is other evidence that they're more common than expected. Desmond's article was written back in 2008, and at the time this site didn't exist and the Omega collecting community was a lot more spread out, so a lot of watches that were considered rare then, like this are now considered just uncommon.

    Post moved from other thread...

You are reading the information out of order. While the "Kleerbacks" are unusual, I would not consider them exceedingly rare.

The Omega museum has little information on them simply because they were a creation of the US Omega distributor at that time. The only part that Omega Bienne contributed was the movement. Cases were made in the US to Norman Morris's specifications.

IMO, production was a lot more than six. Desmond speculated several hundred in his article (to which I contributed). I think it was quite a bit more than that, but don't know the total.

I doubt if anyone knows the full production figures.

Yes, I recall our initial conversations on these Gator, years ago :)

I did produce an update on the Kleerbacks back in 2013 after some ads surfaced on another forum. I still suspect these were a trial model rather than an ongoing production. Price, I think, made their life-span a short one.

    Regards

    Thanks :)

Ive just got back from the east coast of the US and Cuba. What a feast of pre-1960 cars! Not too many good examples of pre-1960s vintage watches about as far as I could see though.

    That's a very good article!
Let me just add that I totally agree with this statement:
"And while some purists may turn up their nose at uncovering the history behind cryptic case back inscriptions or eschew the sometimes laborious search for provenance of particular watches, I believe that at least half of the fun of collecting is discovering the human stories surrounding the pieces I collect"

    Thank you!
