I recently purchased (at auction) a Rolex Submariner 5513 WGS dated to 1985, with Papers and sold in HK in 1986
It was then purchased in 1996 from Austen Kaye, the Strand, in the UK

It came with a 93150 Oyster bracelet stamped 'J2' for February 1985, so I assume it's the original bracelet.
However, the bracelet has a date scratched next to the J2 engraving '6-09-94'

Has anyone seen this before.. Of course watchmakers would often scratch marks, date, etc into the caseback.
However, I haven't seen this on the bracelet before. So do you think this may indicate a service, or something else?

i've seen odd codes added to bracelets before, maybe so whichever watchmaker did it could keep track of what bracelet belongs to which watch?

One time I bought a loose bracelet on ebay that had a full serial lightly etched into the blade. I googled the serial and it showed a paul newman daytona (head only) sold prior at a major auction, so somewhere along the line that PN lost its bracelet.

Anyone can scratch some numbers at any time. There's no way to know what it is, or even that it's a date.
