5 year or 3 year warranty for 212.30.41.20.01.003 purchased in 2023

I recently acquired a seamaster 300m 212.30.41.20.01.003, which was discontinued in 2018 for the current generation 300m diver

if my understanding is correct, in 2018 Omega extended the warranty period to 5 years for mechanical watches.

The watch I bought was most likely purchased new old stock from an AD and had its information entered before 2018. The pictogram card states that it carries a 3 year warranty, but since it was purchased after the 2018 warranty upgrade, would it have 5 years of warranty instead?

5 years, based on when it was first sold at retail (after they started the 5 year warranty policy). Unclear what the history of your watch is, if it's grey it probably has no, or expired, warranty.

It has a warranty card stamped by a Japanese AD and filled out date so I assume it was sold at retail.

What is the date on the warranty card? Is it the 2023 mentioned in the title or is that just when you bought the watch?

If the written date is more than 5 years ago you have no warranty. If it is within the last 5 years, and is stamped by an authorised not grey dealer and the card wasn’t obviously faked (as many are) then you still have some warranty effective. Speak to your local dealer.

A while ago, I purchased a second hand LE Speedmaster manufactured around 2011 which was ultimately sold at retail by a Japanese AD in 2021. The 5 year warranty was honoured by Omega UK when an issue occurred in 2025 because the date was within 5 years.

The warranty is from the date entered on the card. Your original post is confusing - “…had its information entered before 2018.” That suggests the date on the warranty card is 2018 or earlier? If so, even if it is a 5-year warranty, it has long since expired.

Clarifying the date written on your warranty card would help us answer the question properly.

Sorry, I was unclear. The date on the card is October 2023. By information entered I meant that Omega must know that it was manufactured before 2018 since it was discontinued the year prior.

When the watch was first sold and the warranty card activated is what matters. Not production date. The warranty should be 5 years.

best way is to ask Omega with the s/n they should be able to tell you.
Nope. Omega have no unified central record of warranty status.

If the criteria I laid out above are met, this watch should be covered under warranty until 2028.

For older watches you are correct. But for watches sold in the last few years they are registered with Omega at the time of purchase. I bought a new 42mm Seamaster around 2022-23 from an AD and watched the SA log the registration into Omega's app. She did not fill out the warranty card and when I asked about it she said she didn't need to since the watch was registered directly with Omega. I don't know when they started this.

I'm in the U.S. What I don't know is if Omega/Swatch Group USA shares this registration with Europe and Asia should the watch end up there or if it's kept in-country.
