    Hello All,

The 44mm is too large, I wanted to find out if 42mm is available in any of these two collections:

    - Dark Side of the Moon
    - Moonphase

The omegawatches.com site doesn't seem to have it but maybe I'm just not finding it. Any help much appreciated.

I believe those are only available in 44 mm. The 42 mm Speedmasters are the traditional ones (the "Professionals" and some of the limited editions).

There is the older (circa 2000) Speedy Pro with a moonphase and date that you might want to consider. It's 42mm.

Thank you for the reply. At this point I'd probably go with the professional because it's 42mm. It doesn't seem to make sense to wear a large watch just so you can get the moon phases.

Is there any self-winding professional in 42mm version?

The Professionals are manual wind. (the current ones are 1861/ 1863 calibers only, I believe)

As a first time Omega owner, is the professional the best choice?

if you havent tried one its good to know that Omega measures the crown guards as well. bezel and face only the professional is 40mm (a bit less even i think 39.7mm) and the 44mm is actually 42mm

Have you tried either of the watches you mentioned on your wrist yet? The reason I ask is because both the DSOTM and Moonphase wear very comfortably and (in my opinion) smaller than their 44.25mm case size would allude.

The 44mm watches are too thick and large for me personally. I need something for everyday. The 38mm seem to be more of a fit.

Can I find any 38mm, hesalite (or sapphiire if I must), self-winding, Omega speedmaster professional? I don't want it to be an automatic and bigger than 38mm.

<I think> .. that if automatic and not larger than 38mm are two must criteria on a Speedmaster model you look for, then your only option is the reduced model.

Thanks. I really can't get over the black on black, but it's a little big. I don't like big watches, although I'm 6' 1".

Wow, you guys are on it. I started this question over a year ago.

talking about 38mm speedy, Omega does have a Speedmaster 38 line with automatic co-axial movements, as mentioned by S.H. The 39mm reduced model were replaced by 40mm racing models if I am not mistaken.

you are right! these are available in sixteen different configurations, the 38mm line is shown here and the black dial, steel on steel version below..what you say? close enough to the traditional ?

The only thing that concerns me is the outline (is that a stepped dial? I am not sure) around the subdials. The all-black dial seems fine, but, if you look closely on other models, the outline is oval instead of circular, which makes my inner OCD scream. It seems the black dial variation is the only one with circular outline. My take is, get a confirmed answer from someone who has seen this watch in person, if the oval on circle design bothers you.

Did you try the DSOTM on? It really does appear smaller on the wrist than its 44.5mm size would suggest, as many others have said before. When I got my DSOTM, I tried both it and the steel version on. Both are exactly the same case size, but I was astounded at how much more modest the DSOTM looks on the wrist compared to the steel version of the 9300 movement speedy - in fact, my wife said “there’s no way those two are the same size”, but indeed they were.

I will try, although I'm looking for an everyday watch, is Omega an everyday watch?
