    Hello

Not hugely sought after and I'm sure can be found cheaper than $10k. Prob no Omega warranty with it either.

USD10k is less than the RRP was but seems you could find it quite a bit cheaper elsewhere. Believe the DeVille Chronoscope Co-Axial Rattrapante line didn't do that well for Omega and was discontinued.

Not exactly the same reference number, but here is a thought on the family: https://www.fratellowatches.com/ome...ch-that-depreciated-already-in-the-catalogue/

From a technical point of view, Omega's co-axial movement is a fascinating engineering accomplishment by the greatest watch make of recent time (George Daniels) and a step above a normal escapement. And a rattrapante is a similar step up above a normal chronograph, allowing you to time two different things at the same time.

Is it worth it? Depends entirely if you love it or not. No sense in buying a $10k watch if you don't love it. If you love it then sure it could be, but if you don't then it's definitely not.

That kind of money can get you a lot of watch (or even several high-quality watches), so it's definitely worth you having a think about what you want.

Even within the same family there are quite a few variations, for example the 4847.50.31, which can be had for $5-7k and to my eye is rather dashing. https://www.omegawatches.com/watches/de-ville/chronoscope/co-axial-rattrapante/48475031/

Yeah Omega and a few other companies have been dumping unloved stock at Costco for a few years. I get calls from friends about them. Afaik they are new with warranty. Never anything that's a good seller and never entry level models.

Omega sued Costco for carrying their watches without being an authorized dealer and won. Costco is not an Omega AD, and Omega definitely doesn't dump stock on them.

Huh... wonder where they are getting the Omega, Tag, Breitlings etc. Someone's dumping grey market stock on them then.

To say that Omega "won" would be misleading. Costco won the initial suit, then lost on appeal, and with a tie at the supreme court (one judge abstained) the appeals court ruling held for that district. However Omega's improper use of copyright, the "globe" marking, applied to a non-copyrighted good to control the sale of watches was subsequently struck down by the court, which is why Costco still sells Omega and other watches like any grey dealer can...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omega_S.A._v._Costco_Wholesale_Corp.

The big brands force AD's to take watches in quantities that they can't sell, and the AD's dump them to grey dealers as a result. The brands know this happens, and in a way they rely on it. Typically the watch isn't sold when you buy it, but on the brands books it's sold when they send it to the AD.

Since Costco is a grey dealer, the warranty offered is from them, not from Omega.

    Cheers, Al
