42 SMP and 42 Speedy same case?

Hi Guys!

This is my first post here. My question boils down to strap interchangeability.

Am I right in thinking, that at least at the lugs (pertinent to strap fitment) the 42mm SMP 300 and 42 Speedy case will all accept the same straps?

I own a "great white" SMP 300...

and for my 30th, I'm actually getting a Canopus Gold Speedmaster (splitting cost with my rich granny, after ~20% discount, god bless that woman!)

Am I right in thinking the rubber strap that goes on the SMP 300s will fit the Speedy perfectly? I think It will.

First of all welcome.

Surprised to hear you're able to get the Canopus at a discount from the OB although it is priced where at a level it won't be a big seller.

I highly doubt the rubber strap SMP will fit the Speedmaster lugs with regard to springbar holes correctly lining up.

Thanks for crucial advice! I think the issue of steel springbars on gold is also a thing? I've never had a precious metal watch before, maybe those spring bars are gold too?

I did not consider that wingspan might be different, despite identical twisted-lug style. Good point.

It's going through a jeweler/watch seller with Omega connections, that's why there's a discount, I believe.

It's certainly not a value-buy, I get that. But I really don't care. This is heart choice, not a head one. And I'll never sell it so what's the difference?

People make too many head-choices in this game, IMO. Be aware, but don't be a slave to it. I think I could've got a Lange for the same price, but the thing is, I don't want one. Haha!

My guess they are not, here's a post from our esteemed go-to for all info regarding Omega:
