Hi All, My partner has got me a Planet Ocean 600 for my 40th (which is not till Feb) and I cannot wait! esp as we get married the day after!!! So happy and so excited and pleased he knows me so well to get me my holy grail watch (not my pic) How do I talk him into letting me fondle it early?
Awesome! And congrats! You will not regret an Orange PO! Having to wait 6 months... I feel your pain!
You have to wait? Well, we have to wait, too! [for your watch pictures] Congratulations on everything
Congratulations @GazzaK on both the birthday gift and the upcoming nuptials! Six months would be an excruciating wait knowing it's just sitting there waiting. I vote you convince your partner to give it to you early as an *insert holiday here* gift. My vote if you're in the US...Happy Labor Day gift!
Nice one. That's a lovely watch and congratulations on finding someone who knows what watches you like
congratulations. My first Omega was a gift from my future wife. Sounds like your partner loves you very much. Fantastic gift!
Congrats! now we must all wait for Feb too to see a wrist shot of your own watch! That's a good looking PO you will get in Feb!
Get him a Speedmaster... Seriously though... I've been on the giving end of this equation before... and it's better to see someone enjoy every minute of the gift. Six months of this sitting idle is such a shame.... The trade off ... (at least for me)... is that I have to remind my wife, when the day comes, that she has already received her gift when she opens whatever token "unwrapping" gift I get her - because you can't give nothing on the actual day ... and tries to hide disappointment when the "day of" comes with a whimper instead of a bang.... but months/years later... that gift is still referred to as the 40th birthday/wedding gift ... even if you didn't get it that day.... You trade 6 months of enjoyment for 1 day of disappointment... is it worth it? Probably. If your partner knows you well... which he must... you'll have that on your wrist before too long.... if not... just start wearing a running series of orange shirts/belts/accessories.... until he says, "you know what would look great with that outfit...." I'm sure he's just as anxious to see you have it as you are...
Congratulations! He sounds like a keeper and I wish you both every happiness. You could print out a to-scale color photo of the watch, flat if you can find it, and then cut it out appropriately and "try it on for looks and to start getting used to it." Hint, hint. ETA: My first Omega was a 40th birthday present from my family and these five years later I now own six. It's a slippery slope, but it sure is fun.
