Don't rely on me solely because I know nothing about those.... but I'll venture an assessment until more knowledgeable people chime in:
to my admittedly uneducated eye it looks perfectly legit and quite nice, with 52 people watching it the reason it hasn't been snapped up is probably because most of them think it's a bit small at 32mm with slight dial damage, and they prefer to keep their cash for bigger fish.
Which means it must be a bit overpriced, and would be more appropriately priced closer to 400 GBP.

Yes, it is legit. The price is not out of line, though you must decide whether the dial and case back condition are acceptable. The movement appears to be very clean.

Also, it is quite small by today's standards, so be sure that you know what you will getting in that context.

    Regards,

    Tony C.

I'm guessing at 32mm it's going to roughly the same size as my Heuer.

And I'm ok with that. As for the engraving... it's part of the history. Who was Eric? Who was Margret? Wife, Girlfriend... mistress? All part of the fun. ;)

Have to say, I hadn't spotted the dial damage until it was mentioned.

As it has been said, it is legit.
Decent overall condition, but you have to like case backs with inscriptions.
Nice caliber of the 449 series.
    Maybe a little overpriced.

32 mm is pretty small, I would say it is a boy's size. If your even thinking about a 32 mm your probably over 50 years old, so I think it is an acceptable size. Also, how big are your wrists ? I don't really think your going to impress younger people with a junior size watch, but wear it because YOU like it ! Here is a picture of a very nice Ship Wheel JL which is 31 mm. Very cool watch !

I wear 32 mm and even 30 mm watches on a regular basis and it is perfectly OK! I do not have giant wrists but it is also
a question of taste and of habit.

So I beg to differ: you do not need to be 50 years old to consider 32 mm watches! You only need to like vintages and to have medium size wrists.

Looks like a nice vintage JLC. I actually prefer smaller dress watches, and I'm still under 50 and 7" wrists . Go for it if you really like it.

Here are examples of my 32mm gold watches and 34mm steel alarm watch. IMG_20170302_185727435.jpg IMG_20160917_164650302.jpg IMG_20170114_181013946.jpg

A couple more have caught my eye (hence the change in title) - what do we think of these:

The first has had the dial 'refinished'... It looks ok, and I like the deco style font used on the numerals.

The second is an aledged WWII German military watch, and the combination of the chromed case, black dial and aged lume numbers is very pleasing IMHO. But the case has been refinished.

I would stay away from redials and chrome cases. Too many original dial watches out there in stainless steel. Be patient and you can find a totally Original one !

I've had my eye on this particular watch which honestly looks pretty good. 31mm is admittedly on the smaller side though.

I also have a preference for stainless steel in my watches vs chrome which is why I picked this up a few months ago:

Looks too sanitized to be untouched honestly. My untrained eye tells me this is highly polished, and there is something about that dial that doesn't look right. Almost has this "washed" look to it.

It's definitely NOT military (one of the most abused words designed to sell at inflated prices).
Also, as Kyle pointed out those styles are not rare, and this one is grossly overpriced IMO.

I really love these old JLC, with the wide hands.
One of my next target for sure!
So if I understand a good one should be priced around 500 usd? A bit hard to find a reference or a way to name this model.. I will look forward

A good one should be priced higher... If you are lucky, you might be able to find one at around $500 that hasn't been abused.
