Looking around and found 4 different modern Omega watches that I like the most (out of many). I wouldnt mind getting one of them at some point in time, but would like to know which one would you recommend, and what would be considered a best buy of sorts. I am working under the assumption that price difference between all is +-$500 max. Watch 1: Seamaster Aqua Terra 251.30 Watch 2: Speedmaster Moon 3575.20 Watch 3: Speedmaster Broad Arrow 3551.20 Watch 4: Railmaster 2502.52 What would be fair price for each? Looking on eBay and around, sold ones are hard to find, so I am kinda in the dark in this regard. Thanks for the help
If these were really the only watches to choose from and it was going to be my first Omega I would go for the Seamaster as it ticks more boxes (for me); the improved water resistance compared to my Speedmaster triple date would be particularly welcome. Did you consider a Planet Ocean Chrono with screw-lockable pushers? If it had to fit my existing Omega collection then the Railmaster by a big margin.
The AT chrono looks all wrong. In fact I think all Omega Chronos barring the Speedmaster line look wrong. The Railmaster looks great but lacks a date so for me it is 2&3. 2 is manual wind so I would plump for 3. In fact I already did and have the co-ax 1957 version.
Watch 3 for me. Love the broad arrows indices and lately I've been wanting a watch with the moon phase complication. Nice group.
The small subdials of all of the chrono's bother me. They just don't do much for me. I think the Railmaster is really good looking for a modern re-do. It would be the Railmaster for me. I would be proud to wear it. JohnCote
+1 to a degree that make the watches look fake... I'd go pre owned and have other people take the 40% hit
You had a nice theme going there: white dial, blue metallic hands, chronograph with date. Then you lost focus when you caught a glimpse of the Black Beauty...the woes of watch collecting. So first you must decide if you want to tick a bunch of boxes or go with simple elegance. It's never an easy decision. Last year, I picked up several Omegas including the Railmaster and the Speedy Moonphase which, incidentally, is the only manual wind on your list. Loved them both. But when home repairs demanded some quick cash, the RM remains on my wrist. The Moonphase sold for $3175. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
