I have a very tall cousin who is also very white.....he has had simar experiences as his first wife was Chinese and he is a fluent speaker. Amazing how rude some people can be when they think only their friends can understand them. I really enjoy when he orders food at a Chinese restaurant....the staff always looked shocked.

I was on a dive trip to Cozumel a while back. My dive buddy was an obese woman who spoke fluent Spanish-----and wished she didn't. 🙁

No, it was more expensive.

In general, everything is more expensive in Macau.

I don't know if you've been to Macau, so I'll describe how the place works.

Everything is based around the casino complexes - The Venetian, Cotai Central, City of Dreams, etc.

So if we use City of Dreams as an example. It has a few hotels (e.g. Hard Rock), loads of restaurants, bars and nightclubs, and is basically one large shopping mall. The shops are all very expensive. Think Rolex, Omega, Gucci, Prada, etc.

I would say over 80% of the visitors are from the China mainland. They're a mix of farmers who sold land and become rich overnight, gangster types, upper middle class people there for shopping, and lots of women with weird fake noses and shaved jawlines. They all are very wealthy and love to flaunt it. Most are there to gamble, and they take it very seriously.

So they win money in the casino and go spend it in these shops. They don't care that everything is marked up because a) they're loaded and b) they just won the money.

Also, rich Chinese have more money than sense, so they will pay a premium for premium products!

That's my generalisation about Macau.

I didn't see any signs preventing takings photos, but I personally would have felt awkward taking photos.

It was a small rectangular room with only one salesman, so not much time to be discrete taking a bunch of photos.

Nothing super different though, imagine all the omega watches you've seen on here, but in a super nice display with big price tags.

Sorry replied to the wrong thread, I'm speaking about a different Orange County based boutique but I imagine most of the stock in omega boutiques is similar.

Haven't been there at all, one thing I know is that it's the capital gambling area of Asia. Not an ideal place to shop around for some fine watches then. One of my friend told me that if You want great deals on watches with the likes of Omega and Rolex. Bangkok is a great place to shop around.
