3861 Dial Sourcing: What Say Yous Guys?

So, maybe I’ve posted about this, but while I love my 3861 Hesalite, I frankly despise that it didn’t come with the applied logo.

Generally, how willing is an AD to help source and swap something like that? If it’s helpful, my AD is Scottsdale, AZ.

Short of that, so we have a board resource who is able to do the same? Obviously I will pay for the work, dial, etc.

This will go a long way to soothing me as I source an orange chrono hand as well. The Ultraman calls me….

Omega has really screwed down the availability of new dials, now mostly done on an exchange basis if a dial is damaged. You'll get little help from an AD sourcing one for the new 3861 models, you'll be better off doing it on your own, which may not even be possible.

They won’t be willing at all. You’ll have to find this dial outside of Omega, and honestly, good luck. IF you find the dial you’re after, you’ll have to find an independent watch maker to do the work for you as Omega won’t. Also, should any problem arise with the watch, post dial swap, you’ll need an independent watch maker to perform the work. You’ll have voided the warranty and should you send it to Omega, they will swap the dial back with what it would have come with originally.

Both fair points. The latter I expect and am fine with - I’m comfortable with modifying watches and relying on aftermarket support. But, as noted, the true issue will be finding a dial to begin with.

Just wanted to point it out in case it hadn’t been considered. I have a watch maker I trust who modified my Speedy for me. I ordered a brand new 1861 Speedy from Omega and sent it off the day after it arrived to have the new & unopened dial put in 😀 but yeah, finding a brand new/removed 3861 dial will be tough considering they are so new. However, I have seen a small handful of people asking if the 1861 dial will fit the new 3861 movement stating, they do not like the dial but like the new technology… so, you never know… you may find one. It can be bought as a spare part without exchange. Exchange is typically only for LE models.

Ahh so it’s possible with a parts account to do the mod the OP suggested.

Al, I’m curious: is the 3861 DON bezel exchange only? I don’t need one but ask because I saw that LewisWarchCo claimed that bezel as exchange only and he can no longer acquire them for his mods (to sell). Which led me to believe, that if the bezel was exchange only, it would make sense for the dial to be as well. But now I skeptically realize, that could be his way of steering buyers to his own aftermarket DON bezels.

Okay, so I could ostensibly purchase and/or exchange for the dial I like? How would I go about this?

You would have to find a watchmaker with an Omega parts account, and who is willing to put their parts account and livelihood at risk to help you create a franken watch.

Well when you say it like that, this should be a breeze 😲 😉

Thanks, guys.
