Not the way to do it, I'm afraid.

You also have to adjust for the depreciation of the US dollar vs. the Swiss Franc. That's at least another factor of 4.

So if a watch sold for US$200 (approx. Sfr. 800) in 1955 and US$1 at that time is equivalent to $8.85 today, you'd need to multiply as follows:

$200 X 8.85 X 4 = $7,080 in 2016.

Maybe that's why new Swiss watches are so expensive.

Yes, it is the Omega version called the Synchrobeat, an ill-fated piece of engineering. as was the Rolex version, that was retired with some embarrassment.
