Hey, can we get a smiley that's looking at it's watch?

Correct - except I don't want anyone to bid because I have an agreement with the seller. ;)

    Abso-friggin'-lootley!

    Less than 2 minutes now.

If all goes well, I'll share another of the seller's watches that they may be willing to do the same for. It has an EXCELLENT dial. I'd be buying it as a package deal if I didn't already have my perfect example.

Okay, now I'm waiting on the seller to send me a Paypal request for this one:

Manual wind in-house caliber 285 from the mid 60's in a gold filled case. Best dial I've seen on one of these in years. Normally I want all my Longines in solid gold, but lately there has been a few great deals on ss and gf pieces for calibers I had yet to own.

The other watch he has is a caliber 340 automatic with this sensational cross hair dial in a gold filled case:

It's killer! ::love:: I've already got a 340 inside a 14ct Admiral, and I have a few cross hair dials so this one would be redundant - but it would make a great buy for somebody here. Here's the link to the original listing:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LONGINES-10...Wm395aGjNciU9+6CI21dObI=&orig_cvip=true&rt=ncPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

If anyone is interested, let me know right away via PM. I'll see if the seller will take the same small discount for this one that I got for the Flagship. If you want into Longines, this would be a very nice watch.

Plain Jane. The caliber 285 and 490 versions of the Flagships almost never had the raised relief argosy or medallion, and rarely had even an engraved ship.

I like the automatic crosshair one. I think his price is a smidge high, but not totally unrealistic like many eBay sellers.

That looks to be in outstanding condition.

He also has a pie-pan as well. I have been eyeing that one for a few days.

I took a cursory glance at it and it looks okay. Needs more scrutiny to be sure though.

I am looking for a birth year (1966) Pie Pan, so if you happen to want to let one go....

BTW, was not really familiar with Longines, but with you sharing your collection and posts, I certainly am taking a liking to the brand.

Ooooo, you're about 11 months late. Not to bust your stones, but I did have a 14ct 168.005 dog leg lug from 1966, but it was sold behind the scenes. Sometimes these type watches don't ever make it to a public listing on a forum or eBay. There's plenty more out there though. BTW, you & I were both born that year and I have several '66 watches from each brand including 2 Longines, an IWC, a JLC, and a Bulova too.

Not many people do chase them, which is good if you want to get in before the prices go up. We've been watching them steadily rise as interest in their modern pieces increases and people learn how respected the brand was before the quartz revolution / crisis. As much as Omega's caliber 564 earns the praise it gets, Longines' caliber 291 tops it IMO - more efficient winding system, a larger balance wheel capable of slightly better accuracy, and a little better durability over all.
