Hello guys, I have a general question I'd appreciate your help with. I know a few early automatics as well as the 30L/LS calibers and later 430's received chronometer certification, but cannot find any information indicating the 340/350 caliber did as well. Has anyone seen/owned a 340/350 chronometer? Thank you for any information, Andrew
This data is from Dr. Roland Ranfft's excellent archive of watch movements. I won't try to answer your question, but the info you require may be included in the link. http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&2&2uswk&Omega_340
Canuck, sorry I should have been more specific. I'm looking for info on Longines 340/350 calibers. I was so confused, had checked Ranfft's last night and didn't see Chronometers listed.
When I saw your post, I hadn't opened the Longines forum. Your post showed up when I opened the NEW posts forum which includes new posts from ALL the forums. So it was my mistake to assume you were asking about Omega. I checked Ranfft for caliber 340 and 350, and both movements as shown are marked unadjusted. However, caliber 355 is marked adjusted. There are numerous differences between it and the 340/350. The 355 is not otherwise marked in a way that would cause me to conclude that it is a chronometer. Maybe somebody who actually knows will come along.
The answer is yes, there were chronometer versions of the cal. 340. I own this Flagship Chronometer. Ranfft's site is an excellent resource, but not remotely authoritative when it comes to this kind of detail.
Damn Tony, You have so many nice Longines. Dibs on that one above. Love the band! I found a bunch of sealed barrel/mainsprings and rotors for the 340 series (although I might imagine the rotor for your movement is different than the standard) in a grab bag of parts I picked up recently. Now I just need a 340-powered watch!
