Platinum is is! Money, money, money! So how many are already emailing / leaving messages at their favorite AD's looking for one? How many switching from the 50th version to this one?
please defer to earlier first post of 321 Go, so we wont have divided threads of reactions and opinions. thanks.
I understand the history of the 321, but what makes it so sought after? Is it simply because it's a column wheel chrono? If so why are column wheel chronos better than cam actuated?
pie pan step dial and moon rock subdials are a nice touch. i don't think they screwed anything up on this one.
Not better, according to our resident watchmakers. But: more esteemed history, including the tests it originally passed; more complex to make; more expensive; superior aesthetics.
Hype... The chrono actuation is smoother... you can argue the 861 has spent a lot more time in space though. It has a 50 plus year run in production used in space since about 1980 with the NASA and the shuttle and a bit earlier with Russia in Soyuz. The 321 had a much shorter run.
Somewhere here are one/maybe two watches that could have made me spend a lot of money.... but I am not sure the current choice is working. Having said that a slow burn sometimes becomes a buying fire. Either way I was not jumping until the 321 came out...… I need to digest....
Looking at all the ISS launches and Russian EVA for sure the 861 (1861a) is fully 'flight & EVA approved and proven' and equally the 321 is fully 'flight and EVA approved' :0)
