Good day to all and hope the holidays were good to you.

I have sourced a vintage crown which I plan to fit to my 105.012 in a upcoming service.

My question is would the current stem fitted to this movement fit the new crown I wish to install?

Appreciate you taking the time to answer.

    Thank you

I'll be interested to know how this thread develops Walrus. I have a105.012 and have been told the crown is not original. I would be interested to find out what is wrong or right???

I'm going to try to count the teeth on an enlarged photo. Are the critical features of accuracy to reference the number of teeth, the diameter or the logo? (Or all three?)

The teeth on that crown you sourced look really well defined.

Many available Flat Foot crowns need to be adjusted to fit a 321 movement as they might be a Railmaster (2914) or Seamaster300 (2913) crown. The pertinent stem sizes are

    Speedmaster, 321 caliber, 1.0mm
    Seamaster300 (2913), 501 caliber, 0.9mm
    Railmaster (2914), caliber 284, 1.2mm

You can count the teeth, but the logo for a watch that age, should be the flat footed one. It's nice to have the original on some of your watches (I've got it on my Ed White), but I don't get that hung up on it. I have a newer crown on my CB and I'm not busting a gut to find a period correct one.

If it's really a Speedmaster crown you have bought the diameter of the stem should be fine, but the length may not be correct, so I would recommend having a spare stem on hand.

    Cheers, Al
