This popped up for sale today. Was very tempted to bid as they rarely come up for sale.

Not currently running/crown doesn't wind, no shock protection there so buyer should keep fingers crossed it's not the balance staff. Curious that the listing states Unopened and they show movement scans.

Should clean up nicely. However the dial shows some dicolouration on the right half - some call it patina - some detoriation...

@Fulton8or I expect they initially didn't opened it up, but did so after all of the requests for condition reports and extra photos that were added.

@mac_omega yeah I think it will clean up well, but as you say shame about the uneven discolouration. I imagine moisture ingress from the crown. Or maybe a heavy smoker winding it every day.

Hard to tell condition of hairspring. Staff you can buy. Hairspring not. Case has some pitting. Possible fingerprint left on the ratchet wheel.

Not winding. Could just be overwound. Hold crown, release click and see if unwinds.

I’m guessing it’s steel case rare to find?

As for the dial. Air seeping in from the crown area. Redial should fix that up
