    It really is an amazing site....

    For those that don't know, there are 888,246 ceramic poppies which have been 'planted' in the moat around the Tower of London. Each one represents a British serviceman that lost their life during World War one, which started 100 years ago this year. All the poppies will be removed in November after armistice day and the proceeds of the sale of each one will be spread amongst 4 armed forces charities.

    The place was absolutely packed with people which was great to see and I have to say it was quite an emotional experience seeing it.

    My poppy will be taking pride of place in our house:thumbsup:

    Thanks for your additional information. it is too bad that such a poignant display will disappear, but the funds will go to a great cause. For me, this is reminiscent of when they dropped a 'bomb load' of poppies from the BBMF Lancaster as it flew up Pall Mall over Buckingham Palace.

    So you have any information on how I may purchase a Poppy?

    Cheers,

    Is not the absolute price that scares me, is the funny currency symbol £ that precedes the number! :(

    Congrats by the way! ::psy::

    I'll do my best:)

    This is meal is called 'The Grand Thali' from a restaurant in Covent Garden in London, it's a very relaxed place and always very busy, where the dishes change each time depending on what's being cooked that day.

    On this one I had: Butter chicken, basmati rice, Bombay potatoes, lentil dal, spiced broccoli, yogurt, Indian salad, raita, chutney, papadum and whole wheat chapatti............and a square piece of 'cake' which I had no idea what it was or what it was doing there but had a fresh lemon flavour and was lovely!

    I would normally have a beer but fancied a soft drink so had their speciality coke which had mint and spices in it.

    Going out for a 'posh' 3 course Sunday lunch today...........my wallet is glad this only comes round every 30 years!
