30's Omega with Omega-branded Gay Freres Bracelet?

Hi there.

Just received an old Omega with what I am pretty sure could well be it's original bracelet. There was no mention of it being a branded item in the advert, so I was pleased to see that it was a GF one! I was surprised to see, however, that it also carried the Omega logo - have anyone else seen any of these?

And yes, the pictures are crap 馃う

The serial number points to a production in the early thirties, around 1934 or so.

How about you, @Tire-comedon? You MUST know about these?

Oddly enough the listing specifically said that the bracelet wasn't an Omega item... 馃檮

Around 1934, brochure for the use of new super stainless 'Staybrite' by Omega. Looks very close. Cal 14.8 Inside?

Could well be the very first model of staybrite bracelet of Omega.

Amazing @Tire-comedon - is there anything about pre-war Omegas you don't know?!?

It's an exact match, cal. 14.8 and everything. The movement is even marked M, so a French market model. Think of someone reading the advert above and thinking that's just what he's looking for, only to purchase this very watch...

The bracelet is really of a superior quality, too. The "clasp" has a clever way of opening and closing that I haven't seen on old ladder bracelets before and the entire construction feels firm and fresh.

Can you please show the clasp T? This is so cool.

I might make a fool of myself and this is completely standard fare, but I haven't seen this solution before:

Note that the one (right) side of the clasp protrudes slightly from the bracelet.

On the opposite (left) side, on the bottom part that fastens to the bracelet, there is a small protruding part as well, meaning that when you click the bracelet on and off, you only need to press/lift lightly on the left side of the clasp instead of having to press hard down when putting it on or tearing at it with force when overcoming the friction of normal clasps.

It is designed for wearing the watch on your left wrist, as the fingers on your right hand intuitively operates it 馃榾

EDIT: Okay, so I should have washed my hands more thorough after coming in from the garden 馃う馃う

Already saw this system on bamboo bracelets. I need to look in my drawers to see if I have kept them. Very nice catch. I didn't know that those staybrite bracelets were signed.

@Tire-comedon / @tdn-dk: do either of you know if this is a women's model? I'd say it is, due to the rather petite size (about 32mm x 16mm)
With this caliber it may be a women's watch. I will browse my catalogs to check.

Couldn't find if it is a women's Watch but I found another ref to Mod 936 in a British brochure from around 1935 :

Wanted to update this thread with a scan from a 30's brochure that was posted at klocksnack.se :

Here the CK936 is listed as a men's watch, putting that tiny little piece of horological mystery to rest 馃榾

I have also seen it referred to as "suitable for both men and women" so some horological crossdressing did occur 馃榿

That would have been and still would be a bold choice for a woman's watch- absolute class. Thanks for sharing this, I love this period.

It is absolutely tiny. but I agree; I could see this on the wrist of some cigar-smoking, polo-player couldn't-give-a-damn women.
