E5898F20-4C33-474F-A9B2-39092B0A8BBA.jpeg I saw the anniversary 300 tonight. First impressions: It looks like railmaster but the 300 has a unique “sunken” look to it. Very cool. The bezel I assume is liquid metal? It is thin and shiny. I think if it was my first choice in both I would get the anniversary. And they are about close to the same in price.

I think it depends on what you are looking for.

The 300 re-issue is beautiful, my favourite of the trilogy (railmaster close 2nd), but for me it looks a bit fragile to be a modern diver.

I have used the the modern SM300MC in the sea, snorkeling. and it feels pretty robust. I also like the jumping hour hand timezone function on the 8400 calibre which is not available on the reissue + the exhibition caseback on a modern diver is pretty cool.

    BUT...if I had a Sub I would buy the 300 reissue in a heartbeat:)

I like aspects of both very much. Couple years ago, I tried on the 300MC and it was just way too thick for me, so for me, if I DIDN'T have a Sub, it would be the SM300 60th LE. And since I do, the Railmaster was my choice. IMG_1166.JPG

Interesting comparison. The faux aged lume is, well, more faux on the anniversary. I owned the regular SM300 MC and you forget about the lume being colored at all because it's not that noticeable. I wonder how it's like to wear the anniversary SM.

I’ve seen them in person on a few occasions now and the lume is REALLY dark in comparison to the 300MC. The dial is also very grey and I struggled to find light to make it look black. I simply didn’t like the dial on any of the 3 and passed on all 3. In my book the 300MC is a far superior timepiece.

You know, I was originally focused on the Speedy reissue when the trilogy came out. However, the more I see pictures of the SM300 the more I'm convinced it's the one to go with. The updated bezel adds so much character to an already great watch.
