Take it to a reputable watchmaker and have him look at it it might be as simple as a well earned service is all that's required .

The problem is trying to diagnose a mechanical watch movement issue based on a 14 word description with no pictures.
You asked "how to resolve" and members offered their best advice.
We are always ready to be helpful but at least would need a movement shot and perhaps clarification of "after several snaps shut".

Don’t mess around with the watch. Give it to a good watchmaker and repair the poor thing.

not a good idea unless you have done this before you can cause more damage to the movement that you're trying to solve .let the experts take care of the watch for you . now if you're really hell bent on doing this yourself photos at a good start . good luck .

I never cease to be amused at threads like this which involve “shade tree”watchmakers trying to fix their own watches. ::psy::

Maybe it was one of those guys that fiddle with the regulator then, after a few squeezes of the dust remover, says done.

Yeah, you might do more harm than good. Take it to a reputable watchmaker who can at least properly diagnose the problem for you and give you advice what to do, if nothing else.

Remove mvmt. from case. Use a secure mvmt. holder. Insert stem again. See if it works outside the case. If so, maybe stem too short. If not, Watchmaker. Kind regards. Achim
