not really, you will need another watch on your wrist while those three remain on the winder... :)

    Plus a couple of Speedys.

I have a 3 watch winder and I am currently down to 4 automatic watches. 1 on the wrist, 3 in the winder. However it has not slowed my lust for more watches one bit, so good luck.

What is the point of watch winder? just so you won't have to wind it and set the time when putting it on?
Is there a technical reason for it?

I guess it's so that the watch power reserve won't run out and you won't have to set the time (and date) again and again. It works out especially if you have more watches that you wear by rotation. Can you imagine having to set the time almost every day ?

I own three automatic watches that have date or day. I don't have a winder but there are days I'd like to wear one of them but don't get moving early enough to fiddle with setting the day and date. Winder resolves that.

if you go 2-3 weeks without wearing one, you have to adjust the date, etc. kind of a pain in the ass, if you're kind of compulsive and/or think it's annoying to have the wrong date/time

Most power reserves are 60 hours or less, so unless you are wearing a watch every 2 1/2 days, it's going to fully unwind. So not only do you have to set the day, date and time you have hand wind it also. Some people love doing that and some people are lazy like me. If I am not planning on wearing a watch, I don't leave it in the winder. Strictly my personal opinion, but I don't think the movement needs the daily wear and tear of winding, if I am only going to wear it once a week.

Yeah ... I thought that when I got the 20 watch case and winder. In my defence, I am down from 22 to 14 .... but that drawer in the film clip above ... that looks nice.

Have you seen the man safe from brown safes?? It´s awesome.
On the other hand, please correct me if I´ve been wrong all my life. Once I read that it was much more harmful for a watch to stop every time the power reserve runs out and be left like that than having it running continuously on a winder. The article said that the lack of movement would make the pieces sticky.

Has anyone used something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/391500065388Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

For $50, it doesnt look too bad at all. Several different sellers, prices all over the place (above is cheapest) some had reviews and said it was good and gets the job done. Would be nice to hear some reviews from peeps on OF. Not that I dont trust eBay reviews, but I dont really trust eBay reviews.

I bought one in December before I joined OF. It never stopped rotating when on AC power. I contacted the seller who said they'd "look into it" and that was the last I heard of it. Fine, so I bought a set of rechargeable batteries at Costco and got used to swapping out the batteries every three days. Also, the pillows are far too small for my watches and I had to install aftermarket padding.

Then in May the right carousel completely stopped rotating. I disassembled it and could find no fault.

My verdict is: cheap and cheerful...while it works. I bought a cheapie from Amazon in May that so far is working well.

Here was mine when it was working.

Bit like a manual or a Speedie you have to wind every :whistling::whistling:
