Dear Omega fans,

I know I posted a few similar questions before, but its part of the journey to narrow my choice down and the choice is being narrowed nicely.
I am considering now the 2nd gen aqua terra and specifically on the older one with the framed date window. Preferably 41.5 mm.
The Blue Vs Gray (again) but only in this version now.
Please kindly if any one has a photo to share or opinion to voice feel free to help out!

The model numbers in question:

231.10.42.21.03.001
VS
231.10.42.21.06.001

with my collection, having a blue OP 36 and an electric blue seamaster the grey would fit better, its just the usual uncertainty about how dynamic or dull/boring the grey is especially in sunlight/direct indoor lighting. I know in the shade grey is usually awesome. I did have an oris propilot in grey and was a little bothered by that and sold it but still like it a lot; but this aqua terra is a lot more dynamic it seems.

Re: Accuracy;
Also, in many of these aqua terras I am being quoted an accuracy of + or - 7 seconds per day. I'm finding that not acceptable to be honest given the brand, and price to be paid. Or am I being too OCD?!

Regards
Hydar

I have the 38.5mm, but the photos should give you an idea of the grey dial in more real-world lighting.

Wears very comfortably (at least on my wrist)

Haven’t run an accuracy test recently, but from memory it’s was gaining about 3-4 secs/day, maybe less

I like both but prefer the blue however you have other blue dial watches so I would go with grey to mix it up a bit. Can’t go wrong with either in my mind. Good luck.

Chrono certification is -4 +6 seconds a day average over all positions.

so your being way to picky. If it was Metas it’s 0 to +5 a day. This is the highest rating for accuracy your going to find on a wrist watch. ( Tied with the new superlative cert which is -2 /+2 )

but o-5 is preferable on a watch that hacks... ie all watches with these types of certs..

I recommend a quartz watch for the OP. Very accurate, even at a lower price point.

I’m +3-5 seconds per day with my 8500.

I see no need for anything different/newer.

Thanks well I thought +/- 5 seconds is reasonable. Especially given I've had many Seiko 6r15 and 4r's and I get that sort of 5-8 second accuracy. Thnx

You have had many 6R15s that are only +/- 5-8 seconds per day? You should buy a lottery ticket as you have some really good luck.

For the record, my AT 8500 is usually in the + 4-6 seconds per day range.

I much prefer the blue dialed AT. It’s a colour Omega seems to do pretty well, but I’m biased.

As for accuracy, the 8500 is perfectly capable as an excellent time-keeper. Whatever colour you decide, those particular AT are probably due for a service at this point. The 8500 AT was first introduced in 2009 I believe, so the watches could be fairly old. You might be seeing a range or reported accuracy that reflects the need for a complete service as much as anything else, though a watch can keep great time and still require an overhaul.

Both of these have the Cal. 8500 inside, and the tolerance for average daily rate for both watches is from 0 to +6 seconds per day.

The "target" rate that Omega sets out is +3 seconds per day on these.

My 41.5 8500 blue AT is +1 no matter what. Rest it this way, rest it that way. Wear it. Winder. As long as it is wound. +1.

My 41.5 8500 PO is +2.5-3.5 no matter what. As long as it is wound.

Have fun
