Hi I have a chance to get this watch for 8K$ , serial ok in range , looks like dial hands from service and missing base 1000 bezel still a good deal ?

Well, it's basically worth price in movement + case + caseback since rest was replaced. Looks like someone replaced handset with one from FOIS, running seconds shouldn't be leaf and central should be arrow.

Yes, you are buying a case and movement.
If you PM me the serial I tell you how it lies with those I know.

Given the replaced parts I would assume that crown and pushers are incorrect too?

A -62 isn’t meant to have a base 1000 bezel, but it should have a DON bezel. Sourcing the correct bezel, dial and hands is going to take a lot of patience and at least £6k, more for really nice parts. Looks like a headache to me.

It's still worth more than 8k just for the movement, case and caseback tho.

Funny really, we are all talking about one part we can hardly see, the case, and the movement, which for all we know is a Tissot.

I think you could get a case, caseback and movement for a fair bit less than 8k...

Finding parts to make this one right would be very tough, but it is doable. You need to be constantly looking and ready to jump when a parts comes around... and won't be cheap.

With current prices I don't feel buying early 'project' Speedmasters is worth the hassle.

If you already have the dial it's worth it. Otherwise you're buying a headache.

Will have a look at 3PM not really clear if it is a 2998-62 , case back is of 2998, will check the serial of the movement to confirm 62 or 69, the guy get offered that watch with this Dial, but they sold the dial to a guy 7K , but if the guy did not check the serial and let the 321 of the 10
Watches was stupid also, or the initial seller mount it with spares and the hazard make this.

    Keep you posted

Seen the watch and opened the case , definitively a 2998-62 HF , with a 321 in the 19 million range all correct, the son was Willing to sell the watch , in the mean time last year the watch as the racing dial that was sold to a renowned shop in CH for 7k and putting service parts to make it 2992-62 « compliant » , the case was over polished and the serial number was difficult to read , for me that watch was just for donor , but a crazy guy offered 7k I told them to sell it right after , the father in another life changed the dial to that racing one of the 10 how ? Good question .
