Looks really nice. I'm honestly amazed at the condition of the watch(dial, bezel, case, movement). The serial starts with 1776 so it's definitely a 2998-4.
Since my knowledge in all things Speedmaster is limited I would wait for a Speedy savant to give his opinion on the 2998 before bidding.

I am maybe wrong but the dial looks a bit grey (as compared to the bezel)... Am I wrong?

    It is a pure gem...

I think it would have been listed here, if he were interested in offering that.

Also to be fair, these are worth a lot now, into the realms of the unknown.

Anyone care to predict the winning bid?

I can't see anything wrong with it, so as long as the big hitters don't mind eBay, I think this could be something of a record setting watch.

I have never bought or sold anything on e-bay so can somebody please educate me as to how the bidding process normally progresses?

At the moment the sale has a fair amount of time left and it is sitting at around €9200 or so. (roughly the same value as a 'good' 105.012 on Speedmaster 101)

Going by some of the comments it would seem it's got a long way to rise. Does it normally shoot up in the last day or two? Or does it tend to go up in the final hours?::confused2::

I'm sure there are several people sniping this so you may not see much movement until the last few seconds.

    Ooh that's pretty!
But I remember why i don't have auto search notifications set for this ref number, prices are just too damn high (for me)..

    To answer the above question:
Usually bidding increases towards the end. Although since the introduction of the auto-bid it is no longer possible to "snipe" an auction at the last second, bidders are usually hesitant to bid up to their max with days to go.
Especially on auctions without a reserve, where you might just get lucky with a low offer.
Not on a watch like this though, too many well informed buyers willing to pay good money.
